Get an audio overview of Search results in Labs, then click through to learn more.

Today, we’re launching a new Search experiment in Labs – Audio Overviews, which uses our latest Gemini models to generate quick, conversational audio overviews for certain search queries. Searching for a topic you’re not familiar with? An audio overview can help you get a lay of the land, offering a convenient, hands-free way to absorb information whether you’re multitasking or simply prefer an audio experience.

Want to explore a topic further? We display helpful web pages right within the audio player on the search results page so you can easily dive in and learn more.

To try it out, opt into the experiment in Labs. When our systems determine it might be useful, you’ll see the option on the search results page to tap to generate a short audio overview on the topic of your query. You can give a thumbs up/down on each discussion, and the experiment as a whole in Labs.

Search Live: Talk, listen and explore in real time with AI Mode

Because Search Live works in the background, you can seamlessly continue the conversation while in another app. Want to explore even more? Tap the “transcript” button to view the text response and continue to ask questions by typing. If you want to revisit a Search Live response, pick up where you left off by heading to your AI Mode history.

Behind the scenes, Search Live in AI Mode uses a custom version of Gemini with advanced voice capabilities. Our custom model is built on Search’s best-in-class quality and information systems, so you still get reliable, helpful responses no matter where, or how, you’re asking your question. Search Live with voice also uses our query fan-out technique to show you a wider and more diverse set of helpful web content, enabling new opportunities for exploration.

You can access Search Live with a new icon directly under your search bar when you opt in to the AI Mode experiment in Labs — test it out today and let us know how you’re using it.

In the coming months, we look forward to bringing even more Live capabilities to AI Mode, including using your camera when you talk back-and-forth so you can show Search what you’re seeing in real time.

Web Guide: An experimental AI-organized search results page

We’re launching Web Guide, a Search Labs experiment that uses AI to intelligently organize the search results page, making it easier to find information and web pages.

Web Guide groups web links in helpful ways — like pages related to specific aspects of your query. Under the hood, Web Guide uses a custom version of Gemini to better understand both a search query and content on the web, creating more powerful search capabilities that better surface web pages you may not have previously discovered. Similar to AI Mode, Web Guide uses a query fan-out technique, concurrently issuing multiple related searches to identify the most relevant results.

For example, try it for open-ended searches like “how to solo travel in Japan.” Or try detailed queries in multiple sentences like, “My family is spread across multiple time zones. What are the best tools for staying connected and maintaining close relationships despite the distance?”

Try on styles with AI, jump on great prices and more

Whether you’re still on the hunt for the perfect summer maxi skirt, dreaming about a new fall jacket or starting your back to school shopping, our shopping tools can help you explore your personal style and get a good price. Here are a few ways you can use Google’s latest shopping features:

Try clothes on, virtually

At I/O in May, we introduced our try on tool as a limited experiment in Search Labs, allowing shoppers to upload a photo of themselves and use AI to virtually try on clothes. Today, try on is launching in the U.S., letting you easily try on styles from the billions of apparel items in our Shopping Graph across Search, Google Shopping and even product results on Google Images.

Listen to a conversation about the newest AI capabilities in Search.

What does it take to enable billions of people to truly ask anything in Search?

In the latest episode of the Google AI: Release Notes podcast, host Logan Kilpatrick sits down with Robby Stein, VP of Product for Search, to discuss just that. They explore how we’re evolving Google Search with our latest capabilities — from the power of Gemini 2.5 Pro and Deep Search, to new multimodal features in AI Mode.

Get the inside story by watching the full conversation below, or listen and subscribe on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

More advanced AI capabilities are coming to Search

Using AI to get things done faster

To help you get even more done, we’re now bringing a new, agentic capability directly into Search: AI-powered calling to local businesses. From pet grooming to dry cleaning needs, Search can now call businesses to get pricing and availability information on your behalf — without you needing to pick up the phone.

To get started, search for something like “pet groomers near me” and you’ll see a new option in the results to “Have AI check pricing.” From there, you can submit your request and Search will do the rest, consolidating information about appointments and services from different businesses to present you with a range of options – saving you time and creating new opportunities for businesses to easily book customers.

Use AI to understand complex text online with Simplify, now on the Google app for iOS.

When you’re trying to learn about something new on the web, you might come across content that uses jargon or technical concepts you’re not familiar with. Simplify, a new feature in the Google app on iOS, uses AI to make dense text on the web easier to understand — without leaving a web page.

To use Simplify, select any complex text on a web page you’re visiting in the Google app. Tap the “Simplify” icon that appears, and you’ll see a new, simpler version of the text, helping you quickly understand a new concept so you can keep reading.

Simplify features a novel prompt refinement approach developed by Google Research, and uses Gemini to make complicated text more digestible — without losing key details. In research testing, people found the simplified text to be significantly more helpful than the original complex text, and better retained the information. Learn more about these findings and Simplify with Google Research.
