Fitbit smartwatches gain new watch faces and improved connectivity in update – Notebookcheck
/in website SEO, Website Traffic/by Team ZYTThe Fitbit Charge 6 smartwatch has received an update. Version 220.21 arrives five months after the last update, version 214.24, which added new Bluetooth security features and status indicators for features like do not disturb and sleep mode.
With version 220.21, the Fitbit Charge 6 gets three new watch faces (shown below). They are named Momentum, Geometric and Axira. According to the brand, they deliver “more comprehensive data at a glance”, making it easier to check your health and fitness stats. This update also brings support for unencrypted connections, which should allow you to connect the Charge 6 to a wider range of exercise machines. Users will then be able to monitor their heart rate in real time on the fitness equipment.
On top of this, there are said to be minor bug fixes and improvements for the Charge 6. Smaller updates also bring bug fixes and tweaks to the Inspire 3, Sense 2 and Versa 4 wearables. You can find the release notes for all of these updates in Google’s support pages.
Version 220.21 is currently rolling out in phases to users of the Charge 6 smartwatch (curr. from $149.99 at Amazon). When it is available in your region, you will be able to install the update via the Fitbit app by going to Today tab > Devices and selecting your wearable.

Google Workspace is launching a new security measure to help prevent the same type of account takeover attack that impacted Linus Tech Tips. The feature, which is rolling out in beta for Chrome users on Windows, is designed to block bad actors from remotely stealing the cookies that keep you logged into your Workspace account.
Google calls the feature Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC), and it does exactly what its name suggests: it protects users’ Workspace accounts by binding session cookies, the temporary files that websites use to remember user information, to their devices.
That makes it more difficult for attackers to carry out session token-stealing attacks, which often occur when a victim downloads information-stealing malware. From there, bad actors can exfiltrate a victim’s login credentials to a remote server, allowing them to sign into their account from another device or sell their credentials.
“Because this theft occurs after a user has logged in, it bypasses many existing account protections like 2FA [two-factor authentication],” Google spokesperson Ross Richendrfer tells The Verge. “Existing protections for this type of attack aren’t very mature, so it’s low-hanging fruit for attackers.”
In 2023, a bad actor took over the YouTube channel for Linus Tech Tips, along with two other Linus Media Group accounts, after an employee downloaded a fake sponsorship offer containing cookie-stealing malware. This week, YouTube issued a warning about a similar scam involving creators downloading phony brand deals. YouTube isn’t the only platform that we’ve seen impacted by cookie-stealing, either, as hackers hijacked several Chrome extensions last year, adding malware that exfiltrates session tokens for some websites.
Google says there’s been an “exponential rise” in cookie and authentication token theft over the past couple of years, and that this “trend has only intensified in 2025.” The company began working on DBSC last year, and said the verification platform Okta, as well as browsers like Microsoft Edge, have “expressed interest” in the concept. Along with DBSC, Google recommends that Workspace administrators enable passkeys as well, which is now available to over 11 million customers.

Instagram is no longer just a scroll-and-swipe app. On July 10, 2025, the platform quietly rolled out a major update that allowed public content from professional accounts, specifically Business and Creator profiles run by users aged 18 and above, to appear in search results on platforms like Google and Bing. And this is a radical change to the long-standing walled garden approach within Instagram, where content existed within the app. Rather, the instance-owned site is currently shifting in line with the rest of the web, thus creating new search optimization chances to creators, influencers, and brands. Instagram is also growing in capacity, and in other areas, where it has not been available, the public postings can be searched on Google.
This marked a major shift in the walled-garden category, which is highly visible to people within Instagram only. This move brought Instagram a step closer to the open-web model implied by platforms such as YouTube and signaling a strategic shift in how parent company Meta intends to approach the sector.
Instagram has made clear that eligible content, and photos, Reels, carousels, and videos, loaded into Instagram since January 1, 2020, would now be indexed to be sought. The movers were pushed out with the in-app alerts and updates to the Help Center of the platform. This was explicit: this was applicable only to the professional positions in the government. Nonetheless, there were still some types of content that could not be indexed. It was still not possible to find posts of personal accounts, private accounts, Stories, highlights, comments, and DMs in search engine results.
Auto-Activated, but Opt-Out Is Wanted. There was a default setting of the indexing feature on eligible accounts. Still, those individuals who did not want their material to be found through search engines got an escape. They would simply have to switch the setting off on their privacy settings or use a personal or private profile to remain out of view of any outside searches.
This update made Instagram more than a social feed and a content repository, with long-tail discoverability becoming a thing. Niche creators and brands in the realm of travel, food, fashion, local services, and wellness were bound to gain the most. Using searchable posts, Instagram gave the opportunity to creators to repackage their work into cherishable, more like blog posts or YouTube videos. SEO strategy became the priority as well. Instagram recommended its users to be even more attentive to alt text, captions, and hashtags, which stopped being used only to engage people on its platform and started to contribute to the quality of external search ranking.
