Google has introduced new features to the desktop version of its Google Chrome browser, allowing users to split their screen and edit PDF files directly within the browser, in a move aimed at improving productivity and streamlining everyday tasks.
One of the key additions is a feature called Split View, which enables users to open two websites within a single tab. The screen is divided into left and right sections, allowing users to view both pages simultaneously. The function is designed to help users save time and work more efficiently when handling multiple tasks at once.
The feature can be useful in situations such as watching videos on YouTube while taking notes, comparing information across websites, or managing two online tools at the same time without switching between tabs.
To activate Split View, users can right-click on the tab they want to split, select the option “Add tab to new Split View”, and then choose the webpage they want to display on the right side of the screen. (continues below)

Google has also upgraded the Chrome PDF Viewer, allowing users to read and edit PDF documents directly within Chrome. The new tools enable highlighting text, adding written notes and placing digital signatures on PDF files without needing additional software.
In addition, users can now save PDF files directly to Google Drive when opening them in Chrome. Files saved through this option are automatically stored in a folder named “Saved from Chrome”, making them easier to organise and access later.
The update reflects Google’s broader effort to turn Chrome into a more comprehensive workspace tool, reducing the need for external applications while improving convenience for users working within the browser.
