Google has released an update for the Chrome browser to patch an actively exploited flaw.
The update brings the Stable channel to versions 137.0.7151.68/.69 for Windows and Mac and 137.0.7151.68 for Linux.
The easiest way to update Chrome is to allow it to update automatically, but you can end up lagging behind if you never close your browser or if something goes wrong—such as an extension stopping you from updating the browser.
To manually get the update, click the “more menu” (three stacked dots) >  Settings > About Chrome. If there is an update available, Chrome will notify you and start downloading it. Then all you have to do is relaunch the browser in order for the update to complete, and for you to be safe from the vulnerability.
This update is crucial since it addresses an actively exploited vulnerability which could allow an attacker to exploit a specially crafted HTML page (website).
The vulnerability tracked as CVE-2025-5419 is an out-of-bounds read and write in Google Chrome’s “V8,” which is the engine that Google developed for processing JavaScript. Prior to Google Chrome version 137.0.7151.68, this vulnerability allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page.
V8 has been a significant source of security problems in the past.
An out-of-bounds read and write vulnerability means that the attacker can manipulate parts of the device’s memory that should be out of their reach. Such a flaw in a program allows it to read or write outside the bounds the program sets, enabling attackers to manipulate other parts of the memory allocated to more critical functions. Attackers can write code to a part of the memory where the system executes it with permissions that the program and user should not have.
Google knows that attackers currently exploit CVE-2025-5419 in the wild, but released no details yet on who exploits the flaw, how they do it in real-world attacks, or who the targets are in those attacks. However, the Google Threat Analysis Group (TAG) team, which discovered the exploit, focuses on spyware and nation-state attackers who abuse zero days for espionage purposes.
This Chrome update also patches a medium-severity, use-after-free flaw (CVE-2025-5068) in the open-source rendering engine Blink and one internally discovered vulnerability.
We don’t just report on browser vulnerabilities. Malwarebytes’ Browser Guard protects your browser against malicious websites and credit card skimmers, blocks unwanted ads, and warns you about relevant data breaches and scams.

Android Headlines / Android Apps / Google Messages Update May Help You Fix RCS Headaches
The Google Messages app might get a new “Details” button in the RCS settings page. Tapping this button will show details, like the status code, device ID, and carrier, needed to diagnose the RCS issue, which just shows connecting or verifying.
Google Messages might soon get an easier way to fix the RCS chats issue where registrations just show “connecting” or “verifying.” The tech giant may reportedly introduce a tool that will help diagnose the issue quickly. Android Authority has spotted proof of this in the Messages app.
The Google Messages app, which is not publicly visible yet, reportedly includes a flag-restricted feature. This includes a new “Details” button on the RCS chat settings screen, which will be present during the registration process. This pop-up reveals technical information like the status code, carrier, and device IDs. Google needs this information to actually figure out the issue, but doesn’t usually get it.
Highlighting the same, a Reddit post by the official GoogleHelpCommunity account asks users to include data like carrier, device model, and app version when reporting an issue. It’s possible that Most users are not aware of this information. Some might be unaware of this advice from Google altogether.
In this context, the new “Details” button is really handy. While it’s not solving the registration failure issue altogether, it is offering a way for users to collect full details. This information can be used for reporting when the issue happens.
Additionally, there’s also a built-in “Submit feedback” button. This automatically attaches a screenshot of the details dialog and other system logs for the Message team to diagnose the issues faster. Whether the team addresses the issue on time is a discussion for another day. Once RCS registration is successful, the ‘Details’ option disappears from the settings page, which makes sense.
Considering the RCS Details button is not publicly live yet, there’s no guarantee that it will be rolled out to everyone with future Google Messages updates.

Android Headlines / Android Apps / Google Launches Monthly ‘Gemini Drops’: July Update New Features
Google’s first Gemini Drop brings significant AI updates. Key features include Veo 3 photo-to-video creation, Gemini on Wear OS 4+ watches, and Scheduled Actions for productivity. Gemini 2.5 Pro is also enhanced, and Live Captions are now available for conversations with Gemini.
Google‘s AI, Gemini, is constantly evolving to become your main AI platform. The company is now making it easier to keep up with all the new features. Welcome to “Gemini Drops,” a new monthly update designed to highlight the latest enhancements and new features reaching the Gemini app. The “Drops” will also offer tips on making the most of your AI assistant.
The first “Gemini Drop” for July brings some significant upgrades you’ll want to know about. One of the most exciting additions is the integration of Veo 3 photo-to-video capabilities. You can now use this powerful tool directly within the Gemini app. This allows you to transform your favorite still photos into dynamic, eight-second video clips, complete with sound. Imagine giving your cherished memories a new dimension with just a few taps.
For those who live on their wrist, Gemini is expanding its reach. It’s now available on all Wear OS 4+ watches, bringing its helpfulness directly to your smartwatch. This means you can get quick answers, set reminders, and access Gemini’s features without needing to pull out your phone, offering a new level of convenience.
Productivity gets a significant lift with Scheduled Actions. This feature allows you to plan ahead by asking Gemini to perform recurring tasks. For instance, you could set it to provide a summary of your calendar and unread emails every morning when you wake up. The addition is useful to help you start your day organized. Now, Gemini is a more proactive assistant.
Under the hood, Google’s most intelligent model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, has also received updates. It’s now even better at tasks involving coding, science, reasoning, and multimodal benchmarks. This means more accurate and nuanced responses for complex queries, pushing the boundaries of what Gemini can do.
Finally, a highly requested feature has arrived for Gemini Live: captions. You can now read along as you have a conversation with Gemini. This makes interactions more accessible and convenient—especially in noisy environments or when you need to be discreet.
Lastly, this “Gemini Drop” also introduces a new “Productivity Planner Gem.” The feature aims to centralize your emails, calendar, and other information for easier prioritization.

Adobe Firefly adds AI sound & video tools to boost creativity – IT Brief Australia

Adobe Firefly has introduced a suite of new tools and partner models to streamline AI-driven video production and editing, emphasising flexibility, precision, and creative control for content creators.
New sound effects generation
The new Generate Sound Effects (beta) feature allows users to create bespoke sound effects either by entering a text prompt or using their voice. This tool is designed to enable creators to easily add custom audio elements that fit the emotional and atmospheric requirements of their videos. According to the company, Firefly listens to the timing and energy of the user's voice input to match the action in the corresponding video, providing more cinematic alignment between audio and visuals.
"Sound is a powerful storytelling tool that adds emotion and depth to your videos. Generate Sound Effects (beta) makes it easy to create custom sounds, like a lion's roar or ambient nature sounds, that enhance your visuals. And like our other Firefly generative AI models, Generate Sound Effects (beta) is commercially safe, so you can create with confidence. Just type a simple text prompt to generate the sound effect you need. Want even more control? Use your voice to guide the timing and intensity of the sound. Firefly listens to the energy and rhythm of your voice to place sound effects precisely where they belong – matching the action in your video with cinematic timing," the company said.
Expanded partner ecosystem
Firefly has broadened its partner ecosystem to include additional generative AI models. Users now have access to Moonvalley's Marey, Google's Veo 3 (with audio), and Runway's Gen-4 Video, allowing a greater range of creative options in video style and production without requiring users to move between different applications or workflows. Additional models from Topaz Labs and Luma AI are scheduled to become available soon in Firefly Boards and Generate Video.
The company stated, "Creatives enjoy experimenting with different styles, so we're continuously expanding the models we offer inside the Firefly app. Recently, we added Runway's Gen-4 Video and Google Veo3 with Audio to Firefly Boards and Veo3 with Audio in Generate Video. And there are more partner models coming soon to the Firefly app: Topaz Labs' Image and Video Upscalers and Moonvalley's Marey will be launching soon in Firefly Boards. Luma AI's Ray 2 and Pika 2.2, which are already available in Boards, will soon be added to Generate Video."
Enhanced video controls
Firefly has released advanced video controls that give users the ability to direct specific aspects of composition, pacing and style on a frame-by-frame basis. The app now supports flexible aspect ratio selection – vertical, horizontal, or square – streamlining the creation process for multiple formats such as mobile, widescreen, or social content.
Among the new tools is Composition Reference for Video, which enables creators to upload a reference video and a description, from which Firefly generates new content that maintains the original's visual structure. This is particularly helpful for repurposing content or maintaining consistency across scenes. The Style Presets tool allows users to apply visual styles such as claymation, anime, or line art with a single click, expediting the setting of tone for pitches, briefs, or final productions.
Keyframe Cropping provides an intuitive solution for managing framing transitions. Users set the initial and final frames and the intended crop, and Firefly handles the video generation to fit the format, aiming to make the entire process efficient without exiting the creative workflow.
Text to avatar and prompt enhancement
Firefly has also launched Text to Avatar (beta), which enables creators to generate avatar-led videos from scripts with a few clicks. The tool offers a library of avatars, customisable backgrounds, and a selection of accents to match the desired tone or audience.
The company said, "With Text to avatar (beta), you can turn your scripts into engaging, avatar-led videos in just a few clicks. Choose from a diverse library of avatars, customise your background with a colour, image, or video, and select the accent that best fits your video. Firefly handles the rest." The tool is being used for video lessons, transforming written content for social media, and creating internal training materials with a virtual presenter.
Recognising the challenges some users face in crafting prompts, the new Enhance Prompt feature in Generate Video takes user input and augments it for greater clarity and direction, reducing the time spent refining prompt language.
Commercial safety and creative rights
Adobe maintains that all generative AI models within Firefly are trained only on assets for which it holds the appropriate permissions. The company emphasises that user-generated content within Firefly will not be used for further model training, aiming to respect and protect creator rights.
A user guide and best practice tutorials are available to help users get started quickly and to assist with optimising their creative processes within the Firefly platform.

The No-Nonsense SEO Guide to Actually Ranking on Google in 2025 – allhiphop.com

SEO isn’t magic — it’s math, psychology, and user trust. This no-BS guide from California agency New Deez breaks down what actually matters: real authority, clean pages, and content that solves problems. Let’s be honest. The world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can feel like a mess. It’s drowning in jargon, filled with self-proclaimed gurus selling “secret formulas,” and haunted by outdated advice that probably worked back when dial-up was still a thing. For most business owners, trying to make sense of SEO can be incredibly frustrating, often feeling like a complex game rigged against them.

But what if it didn’t have to be that way?
What if SEO wasn’t some mystical dark art, but a set of straightforward, learnable principles? To cut through the noise, this guide will explain what really matters for SEO today.
It’s a starting point for dominating online, with insights from one of California’s top digital marketing agencies, New Deez.
Before getting into what works, it’s important to understand what doesn’t. For years, some in the SEO world focused on tricks to “fool” Google’s algorithm. They used tactics like “keyword stuffing,” jamming pages with keywords until they were unreadable, or buying thousands of spammy links to create an illusion of authority.
Those days are definitively over. Google’s algorithm is now incredibly sophisticated and thinks less like a machine and more like a discerning human. It doesn’t want to be tricked; its entire goal is to provide users with genuinely valuable, helpful, and trustworthy answers. Any agency still selling shortcuts or promising instant #1 rankings is selling a ticket to a Google penalty. Lasting success in SEO today is about building a high-quality, authoritative web presence.

So, how does a business build that real authority that Google rewards? It starts with understanding the only acronym that truly matters in SEO right now: E-E-A-T. This is Google’s framework for judging content quality, standing for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
Focusing on building E-E-A-T is the most powerful, future-proof SEO strategy there is.
Once you understand the E-E-A-T philosophy, you can apply it to the core pillars of SEO.
Here’s a jargon-free look at what they are and why they matter.
This is the bedrock of any smart SEO plan. It’s not about guessing; it’s about using data to know what your ideal customers are searching for. This involves understanding their intent: are they looking for information (“how to fix something”) or are they looking to buy (“best product for X”)? Knowing the phrases they use and the intent behind them allows a business to create the perfect content to meet their needs.
This is the art of optimizing the actual pages on a website to be crystal clear to both search engines and humans. It involves crafting compelling titles and descriptions for search results, using headers correctly to structure content, and ensuring images are optimized. It’s about making content perfectly accessible.
In 2025, great content is king. A website needs to be a resource, filled with articles, guides, and pages that are deeply helpful and interesting. The goal should always be to create the best possible answer on the internet for a given topic. High-quality content builds trust with readers and sends powerful ranking signals to Google.
When another high-quality, relevant website links to your site, it acts as a “vote of confidence” in the eyes of Google. Earning these backlinks from reputable sources tells search engines that your content is trustworthy and authoritative. This isn’t about spammy tricks; it’s about creating content so good that other people naturally want to share it.
This involves the nuts and bolts of a website’s performance. Is the site fast on all devices? Is it secure? Is the code clean and easy for Google to crawl? A solid technical foundation ensures that all the great content on a site can actually be found and properly indexed by search engines.

Feeling like that’s a lot to take in? It can be. The team at New Deez believes this knowledge should be accessible to every business owner who is serious about growth. They’ve seen too many passionate entrepreneurs get bogged down by confusing information or bad advice.
That’s why their founder, Zack Mozes, decided to take his 15+ years of in-the-trenches SEO experience and distill it into a single, powerful, and completely free resource for the public.
They have introduced the Rank #1 on Google – Free SEO Course for Absolute Beginners.
This isn’t a typical long, boring webinar designed to sell something at the end. It’s a real, high-value course designed to give anyone actionable skills, fast.

Publishers left guessing how Google’s March 2025 core update will reshape search – Digiday

Connect with execs from The New York Times, TIME, Dotdash Meredith and many more
Another Google core update was completed last Friday, the first one this year — but what it will mean for publishers won’t be clear for a while, if at all.
Google’s core updates, which happen multiple times a year, change its search algorithms and systems and have the potential to make or break publishers’ traffic. Last year’s core updates threw publishers for a loop. A core update in March 2024 aimed at cleaning up spam and low-quality content in Google search results hit news publishers hard, with many seeing their sites’ search visibility fall. Another change to Google’s algorithm at the end of the year decimated publishers’ product review sites
Publishing execs were keen to discuss the latest core update in a closed-door town hall session during the Digiday Publishing Summit in Vail, Colorado, last week. The consensus was clear: there is a sense of Groundhog Day when it comes to Google’s updates, and they’re yet again in the dark and at the mercy of those changes. (It’s been almost a year since Google rolled out its AI-generated search feature AI Overviews, and publishers still know very little about how it’s really impacting their referral traffic, for example.)
“There is a new Google core update going again. [Our team has started] reworking text [on our sites], and we do not see much uplift there,” said one exec.
“Nobody ever knows anything about core updates,” said another publishing exec.
What makes matters more challenging for publishers? Google will conduct core updates more often, according to an announcement by the tech giant at the end of last year. Google conducted four core updates last year, four in 2023, two in 2022 and three in 2021.
The March 2025 core update, which ran from March 13 to March 27, was a “regular update designed to better surface relevant, satisfying content for searchers from all types of sites,” Google explained in a LinkedIn post.
A third exec said Google core updates affect traffic to certain verticals of content or certain URLs.
“I work mostly in sports, [and I see changes] on some verticals … and some not. And so it’s really hard to understand. I’m turning the dial [and] trying to figure out, what do I need to do to either get back to where I was or, hey, I got lots more traffic from the same thing I was doing before — so this is pretty nice. You have no idea,” they said.
Jason Hennessey, an SEO consultant and founder of digital marketing agency Hennessy Digital, is seeing a few forum websites get hit by the latest update. A site called DIY Chatroom lost about 150,000 monthly visitors, and is now getting less than 200,000 site visitors after the update, he said.
There’s not much a publisher can do to prepare for upcoming core updates from Google, other than to follow SEO best practices, said Hennessey.
A publishing exec — who spoke on the condition of anonymity — told Digiday that it’s too early to tell how their sites have been impacted by this March 2025 core update.
“We never rush into algorithms recovery since the kind of action big sites like ours can take always takes months anyway,” they said. During core updates, it’s best not to make any changes — even if traffic drops, or increases in the beginning, the exec said.
“On the last day of the roll out, traffic may bounce back after a dip or drop after a spike. And any action you take during an update won’t have an impact before the rollout ends, which could muddy the waters for investigating recovery steps once it’s over,” they said.
The best course of action, in their opinion, is to wait until the update is finished.  And even when a Google core update has completed, a publisher won’t be able to really know the impact the changes to the algorithm has had on their sites until days — or even a few weeks — later.
“You can’t just quickly fix and recover,” Hennessey said. “People go into panic mode and think there’s a quick fix but there’s not. Google will sometimes roll out an update, see how it settles, and then adjust it. … Don’t quickly make rash decisions.”
Despite the potential crackdown, both creators and marketers broadly view YouTube’s updated policies as a positive move. They believe it indicates that the platform is paying attention to the ways creators are using AI — and that it’s open to AI tools that don’t result in the propagation of so-called “AI slop” videos.
Here’s a breakdown of the emerging vocabulary of AI-media economics, what these terms mean, and why they matter now.
Gen Z makes up a very small percentage of publishers’ readership, but those Gen Z audience members are consuming their news anytime, anywhere.
