Samsung phones get their third Google Play system update in just four days. The third new update was rolled out on February 21st and weighs 149KB in size. After installing it, for some users, the Google Play System update is reportedly dated November 1st, 2025, and for others, it shows January 1st, 2026.
Samsung phones last week finally received a new version of the Google Play System update, dated January 1st, 2026. We say finally because the devices didn’t get a single update between August 2025 and February 2026. There was another update the very next day. After installing this, for users, the Google Play System reverted to November 1st, 2025. Much to everyone’s surprise, on February 21st, Samsung devices received their third Google Play System update in four days.
After months of silence, things have changed drastically for Samsung devices in the last few days. The latest Google Play System update reportedly weighs 149KB in size. After installing this, the Google Play System update is reportedly dated November 1st, 2025, for some users, and for others, it shows January 1st, 2026. The reason for this is not clear at the moment.
You can get the update on your Galaxy phone by heading to Settings > About phone > Software information > Google Play System update. This new update also seems to be rolling out globally to a wide range of devices.
As a refresher, the first Google Play System update rolled out last week to select Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Some users reportedly received this on their Galaxy A-series models as well. This update reportedly weighed around 90MB in size. The second update arrived the next day, and it was around 1.3MB in size.
