Google has launched its first software update of 2026 for supported Pixel phones. This January update features critical security patches alongside multiple enhancements aimed at improving user experience.
Key Improvements in the January 2026 Update
The update addresses a range of issues related to display and graphics. One significant upgrade involves GPU performance enhancements for the Pixel 10 series. However, Google’s security bulletin hasn’t been released yet, leaving details about specific vulnerabilities unspecified.

- Fixes battery drain issues under specific conditions.
- Adds remedy for flickering on Always-On Display (AOD).

Availability of the Update
The January 2026 update is currently available as an over-the-air (OTA) download. Users can also opt for manual installation through factory images provided on Google’s website. However, the update will only be accessible to those on the stable channel; users enrolled in the Android 16 QPR3 beta will not receive this update.
