As artificial intelligence rapidly simplifies software development, a new challenge has emerged for startups: distribution. While tools like Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code are enabling founders to build products faster than ever, getting users’ attention remains a major hurdle.
Addressing this gap, Okara has introduced what it calls an “AI CMO” — a subscription-based platform designed to automate marketing functions using artificial intelligence.

A marketing team powered by AI
Priced at $99 per month, the AI CMO is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to a traditional marketing team. The platform deploys multiple AI agents that continuously manage different aspects of growth and visibility for a product.
At its core, the system works as an orchestration layer. Once a user integrates their website, the platform activates a network of specialised agents, each assigned to a specific marketing channel.
For instance, an SEO-focused agent performs daily audits of a website and delivers actionable recommendations. Unlike generic insights, these updates are designed to be specific and immediately implementable.
The system also evaluates how a brand appears across AI-driven platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity AI, assigning what it calls a Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) score. This metric reflects visibility, sentiment, and ranking within AI-generated responses — an emerging area as users increasingly rely on AI tools for search and discovery.

Expanding beyond traditional marketing channels
Beyond search optimisation, the platform includes agents designed to engage with online communities. Dedicated systems monitor discussions on platforms like Reddit and Hacker News, generating responses intended to drive traffic while maintaining an authentic tone.
Additional agents handle content creation and social media management, including activity on X. The company has indicated plans to expand capabilities further to platforms such as YouTube and LinkedIn, along with influencer outreach and link-building strategies.

Cost advantage for early-stage founders
Okara positions the AI CMO as a significantly cheaper alternative to traditional marketing setups. Hiring a content writer, SEO agency, social media manager and community manager can collectively cost tens of thousands of dollars annually.
In contrast, the AI-driven system offers similar functions for under $1,000 per year, making it particularly appealing for indie developers, bootstrapped startups and small teams operating with limited budgets.
While the platform is not intended to replace experienced marketing leaders at larger companies, it aims to provide early-stage founders with a way to gain traction without dedicated marketing resources.
The launch highlights a broader shift in how startups are being built and scaled. As AI continues to lower the barriers to product development, competition is increasingly moving toward visibility and distribution.
By automating marketing workflows, tools like Okara’s AI CMO signal a future where even small teams can compete for attention without traditional organisational structures.
The product is currently live, with the company claiming that users can begin deploying AI-driven marketing workflows within minutes of onboarding.
